Hi, I'm Emma. Welcome.
I am an Irish abstract artist creating contemporary ocean art inspired by the beauty of the North Coast of Ireland. My abstract seascape paintings are deeply rooted in my relationship with the sea, which has always been a constant in my life. The ocean's energy, movement, and ever-changing light are at the heart of every piece I create. Through layers of texture, colour, and intuition, I explore themes of resilience, freedom, healing, and transformation.
As a child, all I wanted to do was draw and paint; art was where I felt most at home. However, growing up in the 1980s, pursuing a career as an artist was rarely recognized as a practical path, so I ventured into the worlds of business and sales instead.
More than thirty years later, life led me back to the canvas in ways I could never have imagined. Sea swimming, long beach walks, and painting became vital forms of healing through grief. The Atlantic coastline, with its wild beauty, shifting horizons, and endless movement, inspired me to create again.
Each of my paintings serves as an expression of the sea's power and serenity, capturing the textures of the coast, the changing light on the water, and the deep emotions carried with every tide. While my work is inspired by the stunning landscapes of Ireland, it addresses universal experiences of loss, hope, renewal, and the courage to begin again.
Every piece tells a story—not just of the sea but of the journey back to oneself.
