Hi, I'm Emma. Welcome.
I am an Irish abstract artist creating contemporary ocean-inspired artwork from my studio on the North Coast of Ireland.
The sea has always been a constant in my life. Its energy, movement and ever-changing light are at the heart of every painting I create. Through layers of texture, colour and intuition, I explore themes of resilience, freedom, healing and transformation.
As a child, all I wanted to do was draw and paint. Art was where I felt most at home. But growing up in the 1980s, pursuing a career as an artist was rarely seen as a practical path, so I followed a different route into business and sales.
More than thirty years later, life brought me back to the canvas in a way I could never have imagined.
Sea swimming, long beach walks and painting became a form of healing through grief. The Atlantic coastline, with its wild beauty, shifting horizons and endless movement, inspired me to create again.
Each painting is an expression of the sea's power and serenity, capturing the textures of the coast, the changing light on the water, and the emotions carried within every tide. My work is inspired by the landscapes of Ireland but speaks to universal experiences of loss, hope, renewal and the courage to begin again.
Every piece tells a story. Not just of the sea, but of finding your way back to yourself.
